“"It's true we need to rethink the system, slow down a bit, be closer to

our fashion community, to consumers, not exaggerate with the anticipation of the seasons,

be more connected to the real world, and to real people...".

Carlo Capasa the president of the Chamber of Italian Fashion.

Wool culture and research:

the identity of the fabric made in Italy

Lanificio Paoletti is a historic textile manufacturer specialized in the creation and production of full-cycle pure carded wool fabrics. Founded in 1795 and led by the tenth generation of the family, the wool mill collaborates with the major Italian and international fashion brands, combining tradition with research with sensitivity and enthusiasm.

Knowledge in the field of wool processing and the development of a unique product identity derive from bicentenary experience.

Founded in 1795 in Follina, Lanificio Paoletti is a factory for the full-cycle production of carded wool yarns and fabrics, patron of a fabric culture aimed at safeguarding traditional materials and techniques, attentive to contemporary stimuli. The wool mill is an active center in the circulation and experimentation of ideas with a high research content, from the exclusive study of weaves and colors, to the creation of processes that combine industry and high textile craftsmanship.

A sensitive industry, stimulated by interdisciplinary collaborations with universities and young professionals in the fields of art, architecture, fashion and product design, through initiatives to enhance and share knowledge such as the La Via Della Lana event review.
The wool mill is involved in recovering the wool of a native organic sheep at risk of extinction, with a view to revaluing and sustainable use of local resources.

"BUY LESS, CHOOSE WELL, MAKE IT LAST!"

 VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

The Lanificio Paoletti manufactures carded wool fabrics in a complete cycle, from the mixing of the staple-dyed wool to the finishing, through the internal processes of carding, spinning, twisting, warping, weaving and mending.

Raw Materia

The character of the wools from the countries of origin

From the sensitivity of over two centuries of wool experience comes the selection of wools that give quality to the fabrics of Lanificio Paoletti

The wool used in the textile production of the wool mill divided by country of origin, sheep breed and characteristics:

Lanificio Paoletti is actively involved in a zero kilometer supply chain project, recovering the wool of a native sheep at risk of extinction in collaboration with the Fardjma shepherds' cooperative. The virgin wool of the Alpagota sheep allows us to obtain natural mélange yarns by virtue of its multicolored fleece.

The mélange wool yarns produced by the wool mill are alternated and combined with fancy yarns produced in the most important Italian textile districts such as Biella, Como and Prato.

Textile design:

product research and customisation

The creative office is the vital nucleus of the wool mill, where textile design and technical expertise meet and express themselves

Textile design is a combinatorial art capable of translating an atmosphere into a surface whose compositional qualities respond to visual and tactile criteria.

The imaginative contamination and sharing of design dynamics in close contact with fashion designers intensify the level of research and interpretative capacity in the joint development of exclusive sampling starting from the study of color.

The mélange coloring recipe is developed through the empirical study of the felt pad: a small sample of mixed wool, carded and felted manually, which allows you to visualize the color effect that the final yarn and fabric will have, and to note its structure in percentage terms of quality and quantity of the dyed wools of which the mélange is made.

The application of the yarns, combined according to weaves and designs arranged by the textile designer, is verified on the sample: a fabric panel that contains a mosaic of different variations, originating from the orthogonal interweaving of chains and wefts. In writing the test, compatible intersections are taken into account, but the material result contains a series of unexpected and potentially interesting hybrid portions.

"Quality and research of a complete Italian production chain, since 1795

The textile production of Lanificio Paoletti is historically linked to the river that names and crosses the ancient Venetian village of Follina, where the wool art was introduced by the Cistercian monks in the Middle Ages. In this rainy valley the tradition of fulling flourished, that is, the activity of washing and felting woolen cloth.
Starting from the first stages of processing, the fiber is transformed into fabrics capable of enhancing the expressive peculiarities of the wools coming from the different countries of origin, according to the specific blends that Lanificio Paoletti has coined in over two centuries of activity."
