Natural colors, in coloring earths

A "factory where colors are born", where natural pigments... from minerals and stones take shape to become coloring earths; where the magic of color happens every day, for over 100 years. Surprising shades and tones, which express fullness and accents, as expressive possibilities in the capable and creative hands of artists and restorers, or as in those of bio-architecture or eco-design designers. An ancient history, which has accompanied the Veronese artisan business for generations.

A heritage of machines and stone mills, for the natural processing of colours: from stones to powders and coloring earths. Over the decades, the wisdom of the Dolci family has been able to improve and strengthen the selection of raw materials: from quarries distributed throughout the world, some historic, in long-standing relationships born with the beginnings of the company itself.  The care and mastery in the creation of different color mixtures is contained and preserved in the know-how of generations and in ancient recipes, historical DNA and present richness of knowledge expressed in Dolci colours.

A vital museum in the historic Veronetta district of the Veronetta city. A place where not only the production of natural earth pigments takes new shape, but also the magic and culture of natural color itself.

The ancient and contemporary culture of color, the mission of Dolci colori in its history is to contribute to the spread of a traditional color culture that lives again in the present, from earths to color, respecting the history of natural color, which has spanned the centuries , up to the present. The color creation process originates from the extraction of the earth, proceeds with the subsequent artisanal crushing and rendering of the earth until the conclusion given by the balanced mixing, to obtain the final pigments.

Terre veronesi

The essence of Dolci is expressed in a library of natural coloring earths, born from decades of research and experimentation, which over time has led to the consolidation of a selection of the best international earths, from "active veins of coloring minerals". The valorization of pigments began first of all in the Italian and Veronese territories with the Lands of Verona, and in other Italian sites such as the Tuscan lands, the Lands of Siena, or the Campania and Umbrian lands. Dolci's mastery in treating these lands lies in a wealth of coloring recipes, perfected over time and which help to satisfy the most disparate coloring needs, while maintaining tradition and natural qualitative characteristics.

“The yellow soils of Avesa or Torricelle, Valpantena or Valle di Illasi, create shades similar to gold; those coming from the Prun or Brentonico quarries have an unmistakable pale green shade; the red ones of San Giovanni Ilarione reveal warm tones, which change depending on the light.”
